Power

Why do sports performers need power and what exactly is it?

Power is the rate of performing work, it is a measure of how much energy is created in each second that passess, the size of the force applied and the velocity at which it is applied.

Newton’s law states that Power = Force x Distance / Time (Which is speed x strength)

Power is a great attribute for most sports, it can greatly enhance innate motor skills, like timing a golf swing or kicking a football.

Training programmes for power could also focus on anaerobic and aerobic systems.
